Both financial need-based scholarships and merit-based scholarships are awarded. Renewal of the need-based awards is dependent on continued financial need and academic achievement. Merit-based scholarships include the Presidential Scholarship and music, theatre, and speech scholarships. You may also apply for and receive scholarships from external organizations. Any external awards received must be reported to the Financial Aid Office.
Academic Merit Scholarships: These scholarships are awarded to students based on their academic achievements, such as high GPA, standardized test scores (like SAT or ACT), and class rank.
Leadership Scholarships: Concordia College recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills through their involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or other leadership roles.
Talent Scholarships: Some scholarships may be awarded to students with exceptional talent in areas such as music, arts, athletics, or other specific fields.
Need-Based Scholarships: Concordia College may also offer scholarships based on financial need, aiming to assist students who require financial support to pursue their education.
Beginning in Fall 2024, the Concordia Promise Program will cover full tuition for any student eligible to file the FAFSA and newly admitted to Concordia College with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) under $90,000. Students from any U.S. state are eligible.
Concordia College Scholarship Requirement
The specific requirements for scholarships at Concordia College can vary based on the type of scholarship and the eligibility criteria set by the college. However, here are some general guidelines that may apply:
Academic Excellence: Many scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement. This typically includes a strong high school GPA, usually above a certain threshold. Additionally, standardized test scores such as SAT or ACT may be considered.
Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: Concordia College values leadership qualities and involvement in extracurricular activities. Students who have demonstrated leadership skills through participation in clubs, sports, community service, or other activities may be eligible for certain scholarships.
Talent or Special Skills: Some scholarships may be awarded based on exceptional talent or skills in specific areas such as music, arts, athletics, or other fields. Applicants may need to provide evidence of their talent through auditions, portfolios, or other means.
Financial Need: Concordia College may offer scholarships based on financial need to assist students who require financial support to pursue their education. Applicants may need to submit financial aid forms and documentation to demonstrate their need.
Test-Optional Admission: Undergraduate applicants are not required to submit ACT or SAT test scores. Students choosing to apply for admission without the submission of test scores may be asked to provide alternate materials for review.
You can provide the ACT (Concordia code 2104) or SAT (Concordia code 6113) or both. If you take a test more than once, we will use the best subscores among your tests to calculate a composite “superscore.”
Self-Reported Scores (when submitted): This policy was designed to lessen the burden on students in their college application process. Concordia uses scores from college entrance exams to determine college readiness and evaluate students for merit scholarships. Due to the bias that exists in standardized tests, there is no minimum score required to be admitted. Instead, the Admission Office relies more on the high school transcript to assess college readiness and predict future success.
Excellence Scholarship Amounts
Awards are based on EITHER high school GPA or test score – whichever amount is greater. These amounts are for students enrolling at Concordia for the first time in Fall 2024. Excellence Scholarships will be renamed to reflect donor-funded scholarships that align with students’ academic interests.
