Challenges and Observations by NABTEB
The acting Registrar of NABTEB, Dr. Nnasia Ndareke Asanga, addressed some challenges affecting technical education.
Industries, enterprises, and community views towards Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) were highlighted as issues impacting this sector.
There is also a need for better funding, equipment, and the establishment of more technical colleges to improve technical education.
Legislation and teacher capacity building are also seen as crucial in enhancing TVET.
According to Asanga, TVET can bridge the gap between education and unemployment in today’s economy.
It was noted that 349 candidates were involved in examination malpractice during the 2024 exams.
This act of malpractice undermines trust in the education system and prevents students from developing valuable skills like critical thinking and problem-solving.
